Debbie S @RT70271389 Aug 18 I don't understand why this movie was panned so viciously. It's hysterical & I don't usually like physical, "slap stick" comedy. Bruce Willis plays the straight guy to Kim Bassinger's "Train Wreck". I take it for what it is, a movie with a shallow storyline & weak script that is saved by the two appealing leads in their prime (Cause let's face it. That's 'bout the last movie Bruce had most of his hair in). I get lots of LOLs & don't have to burn any neurons following the plot. Done & Done! And, once again, the movie did not live up to the poster's potential. Bruce Willis has charisma, and Kim Basinger has charm, but the comedy falls flat, and the plot is all over the place. The story is almost like a romantic comedy version of Gremlins, where if you don’t follow the rules, chaos ensues. To be honest, I don’t really find Blake Edward’s films that funny, so I shouldn’t be surprised that Blind Date didn’t make a great impression on me. I don’t think I’ll be taking it out again. Really just disjointed picture who's comedic beats go entirely unregistered. In a way it was ahead of its time with its depiction of Western women though. I don’t understand why it’s so universally panned when it’s nonstop laughs. The runtime might be super short, but Bruce Willis absolutely shines through with his comedic touch. I’d give it an unbiased 9.1/10 as far as comedies go, but I’ll compensate for the lacking sense of humor both the critics and audience have. 5/5 for rotten tomatoes, and I pray for Bruce Willis’ health.
