An amiable rooster called Alan-a-Dale (Roger Miller) tells stories and sings songs of the heroic Robin Hood (Brian Bedford) and his trusty sidekick, Little John (Phil Harris), in this animated animal-themed adaptation of the legendary story. When evil Prince John (Peter Ustinov) deputizes the Sheriff of Nottingham (Pat Buttram) to collect unreasonable taxes from the animals of Sherwood Forest, Robin, Little John and the other merry men wage a lighthearted battle against their evil foes.

While the film might not be perfect, Robin Hood is one of the more underrated Disney efforts. Blending imagination with technical ability, the film is entertaining and rewarding.

Avoiding compassion to other Disney films, this film works very well to match the depression of the era and ideals of generosity and hope. Its good fun and entertaining to children from all decades.

Very underrated for some reason. Great character designs and emotional range. It has some very sad and dark moments early on that lead to a pay off and for a kids movie does a good job in regards to things like emotional intelligence and depth. Built around a classic Medieval myth its not necessarily the most action packed but a thoroughly classic lovable none the less.
