john S @Spork-The-Brave 3d It's slow moving, and my friend who watched it with me said it doesn't become even the least bit interesting for an entire hour, and that did not last for very long; but I vehemently disagree with her, as I thought it never became interesting. We both saw the twists coming from a mile away. Worse yet, we never cared about any of the characters or what might or did happen to any of them. There are so many other current and classic movies you could spend your 2 hours watching . . . or my friend says find a good book to read ... I say find some colorful paint to watch dry! See more Kevin L @Lakeman Feb 15 Another example of pre-70's acting that just seems wooden, unrealistic to me, so the full effect of the storyline doesn't hit like it could. That said, Director Clouzot & the screenwriters pull off the Hitchock-esque plot well enough that the big twist hit the target for me. Still implausible, sure, but it's a movie. The twist and the set-up that leads to it is not what the movie is 'about'. That's just how it is 'about' it. Per the acting, Signoret & Meurisse are the best of the lot. She's quite convincing as a jilted, abused lover hot for revenge. He's more than up to the task of being a lousy rat of a human being.
