Gabriel S @Sanarel 1d 180 is a compelling movie that plays on a terrifying idea, but perhaps lacks bolder moves. Capitalizing on old beats, 180 holds up but the ending it a mix bag. The movie follows a impulsive father that, due to his inability to let go of trying to be right, ends up in a situation where his son dies by the hands of crooks. Spyraling into quilt, this father now seeks revenge. In 180, you will get a repetition of the same old beats of revenge stories. Someone loses a loving one, the Justice System fails, now this person wants justice at his own costs. So what is different in 180? Well, the setting. The story of 180 happens in South Africa, so I guess this contrast with a foreign (to common Holly/Bollywood flicks) is what sets 180 apart and keeps it interesting. Other than that, 180 is forgetful. The thrilling aspect of it is nice, but overall, the arc is generic and lacks innovation. It also lacks a stronger conclusion, sticking to moral choices rather than closure, somewhat a let down. See more Igor S @Igor_Sena Jul 5 Bad movie. It's almost as if they were making up outcomes as the movie went. Or going around in circles and not moving along, because they had no budget. It was extremely amateurish in that regard. This is all a shame, because i actually liked some (not all) of the cinematography. It’s a story about blood and revenge and accountability. But at the same time this is very heartwarming about the love of my mom and father of their son and what they would do to avenge the wrongful death. Didn’t know any of these actors or actresses in this film but some pretty good acting in my estimation. It contains lots of action and drama and yes blood and killing and at the same time we're there at your heart. See more David H @dave999dave May 11 Most revenge action movies involve the protagonist being revealed as formerly a special forces soldier who expertly kills the bad people and good triumphs over evil. This movie takes a different tack. It's not about the guy killing the enemy, though there is some of that. It focuses instead on the incoherent grief and rage the protagonist descends into when his child is critically injured. And from one point of view it's his fault. How could you possibly respond to that? The film touches upon corruption, violence, respect, defiance, mercy, empathy humility, masculinity, forgiveness, judgment, powerlessness, the common good vs personal safety, etc etc etc. I loved this film. When it was over my first thought was I need to hug my kids. See more Mack K @KandiCare May 3 I’m surprised at all the bad reviews, I loved this movie. I think viewers want a Clint Eastwood style Unforgiven revenge ending, and its advertised as a Taken style movie so expectations were not set propertly. I thought the casting was perfect, dialogue was perfect, acting was perfect, nearly perfect all around except for one thing - there was just one too many bad decisions by the main character. I was thinking about how great the movie was and hoped the main character would not make one more bad decision, but then it came, otherwise I would give this 5 stars. See more Read all reviews
