The cinematography has a gritty, grounded feel that fits the story perfectly, never trying to look flashier than it needs to. The film’s simplicity is one of its biggest strengths, it isn’t overdone, and that restraint keeps it sharp and engaging. Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy carry the movie with fantastic performances. Their chemistry is electric, balancing tension and humor in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Murphy’s charisma plays perfectly off Nolte’s rough edge. It’s a perfect example of straightforward, effective filmmaking done right. I gave it 4 stars for delivering exactly what it promises, with confidence and style. See more Melissa M @Lisey Mar 29 People have to remember it was a different time back then. Everybody's so uptight now. Everything's so PC. This is one of the best buddy movies of all time. It's a classic old school cop movie. With dirty dialogue and trash talking characters. If you don't like a movie or a TV show you can always just go read a book. I guess people would prefer sequels & prequels. Because that's all they make now. Most cop movies are gritty & balls to the wall kind of movies. With dialogue & visual scenes that would make even a cop cringe. But aren't most cop movies pretty much the same way? I haven't seen a cop movie yet that was family friendly. Outside of maybe kindergarten cop. Or in less the movie is a rob-com or a comedy like starsky and hutch. Sure the movie is unapologetic. And isn't for everybody. But here is an idea if you don't like the movie just turn off the TV or change the channel. just saying.
