In the 1970s New York City, Studio 54 is the epicenter of sex, drugs and disco music. It's there that up-and-comer Shane O'Shea endeavors to make his big-city dreams come true. After catching the eye of the nightclub's owner, Steve Rubell, Shane quickly rises from busboy to bartender. While coat-check girl Anita tries to get her big break as a singer, Shane finds himself smitten with soap-opera starlet Julie Black.

The studio that released the film Miramax, ordered 40 minutes removed from the film and 30 minutes worth of reshoots. The result not only sanitized the film, but fundamentally changed the characters.

I really enjoyed two things about this movie. Mike Meyers is phenomenal in this movie and the music is fantastic. The rest is fluff but still fun to watch.

It’s almost admirable that the filmmakers could make a movie this boring about the fascinating Studio 54 days. You make a film this bad I guess you get the cast it deserve. I just watched because it was free on Criterion. Did Mike Meyers think he was knocking it out of the park? More moist lips Mike! It nearly made me fall asleep on my Elliptical.

Bad script, bad directing, awful editing, terrible sound, absence of music, poor acting, lousy timing.... what else can I say? Maybe with a good sound and music reminiscent of the times, it would have been a viable watch
