As America's stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest, funded by publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey (Garry Marshall). Like now as then, the issue of gender parity remains a hot button issue, but the way Marshall handles it throughout "League" never stoops to melancholy nor lingers too long to detract from the central premise: sports are for everyone, especially women.

Great movie with heart, humor, and teamwork. Definitely felt bad for some of the ladies at times through some of the hardships they encountered. Good story. Definitely watch it! 🙂
