The television series had a unique charm, strong characters, and a ridiculous sense of humor that worked. Unfortunately, this movie struggles to recreate that same magic. The biggest issue is the storyline, which feels scattered and overly focused on trying to be funny instead of creating a meaningful experience. The comedy often becomes too exaggerated, making moments feel forced rather than naturally humorous. The cast is talented and understands these characters, but even great performers can only do so much when the writing does not give them enough to work with. I wanted more creativity, heart, and fun energy that made the original stand out. Instead, the movie feels like a collection of jokes that never fully come together. Overall, A Very Sordid Wedding is watchable, but it does not capture quality of the series. It is a one-time viewing that I would not recommend revisiting. I am a HUGE fan of Olivia Newton-John and she wasn't in this one for the first time. The original cast is few and they are introducing some strange, new characters. As a fan of the original movie and series, I was skeptical.... WOW, was I suprised! I even agreed and identified with a serial killer (and was actually sad at his closier). This movie is an awesome sequel and deserves a watch. By the way, if you haven't seen Sordid Lives yet, do yourself a favor and give it a watch. It is a black comedy about white trash. As much as I will always love Olivia, this movie may surpass the original (sorry Olivia, I missed you and your music in this one).
