Sadly, as the characters converge, the rest of the movie loses force; it slackens and then rushes, and the time frames feel out of joint.

Helped along by a gloomy, oppressive score, it neither thoughtfully examines themes of trauma, guilt and grief nor moves with any sort of haste to its eventual, obvious, revenge-thriller conclusion, despite its short 90-minute running time.

A slow-burning drama. This is a neat movie, and with that I mean that it is a clean, methodical, competent production, but it just doesn't provoke anything in the viewer. Good acting. It's a movie you can totally skip, but it won't be horrible if you don't. Dull entertainment, but somewhat entertaining.

I literally just finished watching Aftermath after being unable to decide what to watch, and having kitchen work to be done for about a half hour. I planned to passively watch the film, as I never haven heard of it. I often do this with films I don’t expect to enjoy or give enough preconceived respect to offer it my full attention. I found myself rewinding every 60 seconds because I was completely giving myself to this film and wanting to see the 2 leads actually put on quite a performance. I truly found myself caring for them both and actively fully invested in the characters’ journey through grief and loss. I may have been more interested in the story and themes throughout, as I have struggled myself with a personal battle of mental health issues and depression for quite some time. I probably would not be able to watch this 6 years ago. That being said, I found the performances by Arnie Scoot to be exceptional and a was moved enough to write this surprisingly positive review.

This was a movie that I didn't find one thing to say good about it. I didn't personally "hate" things in the movie, but it just left me wishing I had that time back to watch something... almost anything else. It was a true waste of time.
