In a near future, life on Earth has been decimated. Paul (Nicolas Cage) and his twin teenage sons, Thomas (Jaeden Martell) and Joseph (Maxwell Jenkins), have been living a half-life -- tranquility by day and torment by night. When the sun sets, ferocious creatures of the night awaken and consume all living souls in their path. One day, when Thomas doesn't return home before sundown, Paul chooses to leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him before the creatures arrive. Just as he finds his boy, a nightmarish battle ensues and Paul is gravely wounded. Now the twins must devise a desperate plan for surviving the coming night and use everything their father has taught them to keep him alive.

For a low-budget film, the effects work is minimal but effective. Arcadian keeps the aliens’ origins intentionally ambiguous and is all the more spine-tingling for it.

Stop shaking the camera! On its own it does not imply excitement or tension... Beautiful score, though. Top marks for the composers Kristin Gundred and Josh Martin.

Arcadian is more frustrating than enjoyable. Neither the camerawork, script, nor the performances allow the viewer to be absorbed into the film’s world or its emotional arc. Characters barely emote, and the film feels hollow and stiff.

Solid acting with some good scares and maintained the tension. Almost no story to explain how they got to the point where things really start. The monster design was interesting though they kind of reminded me of Tremors.

Just fell incomplete, I realized there will probably be a sequel but for the first part just seemed incomplete. Other than that, the movie was great

Nothing new here but the creatures are decent enough. Nicolas Cage is wasted here and the story has been done better before but overall not a bad way to waste some time

Synopsis
