The acting, the scenes, the way you could see the sketch lines and know that this whole movie was created with a simple pencil and paper is magnificent. They truly put their heart and soul into this movie in which you can tell. I don't see why anyone wouldn't like it, it's a romantic action movie involving cats, who wouldn't want that? Still to this day I watch it and even as of right now I have my own mother cat and kittens with the daddy. Please if you are thinking about watching this movie, do it with a partner or your very own pets or just by yourself, it doesn't matter. It does lack a certain kind of vigour and boldness, which certainly feels like the studio is playing it safe. There are plenty of jazzy tunes, outstanding animation, and even a touch of psychedelia to break up the otherwise simple storytelling. The soft watercolour backgrounds of Paris and the countryside give the film a relaxed, storybook atmosphere that suits its gentle tone. The animals' exuberance is so infectious with the vocal work by its voice cast, especially Phil Harris, Eva Gabor, Sterling Holloway and even Scatman Crothers, really bringing the felines and company off the screen. Even as a halfhearted lark, The Aristocats is a perfectly playful time, filled with charm, humour and light adventure that gives it the cosiest of feelings. Edgar did nothing wrong.
