Archaeologist Scarlett Marlowe (Perdita Weeks) has devoted her whole life to finding one of history's greatest treasures: Flamel's Philosopher's Stone. According to legend, the artifact can grant eternal life and turn any metal into gold. When she learns that the stone is hidden underground in the Catacombs of Paris, she assembles a crew to guide and document her historic mission. As they begin their descent, the team-members have no way of knowing that they are entering their own personal hell.

It's tough to get too worked up, as head-mounted cameras whip between fleeting figures and panicked faces with all the tension of a jittery recording of a trip through your local haunted house.

The idea of setting a horror movie in the Paris Catacombs is brilliant, and they take full advantage of all the elements that make them scary in real life. It’s huge and maze-like, it’s claustrophobic, caves be caves, and spooky bones.

Combining elements from Tomb Raider and The Descent with Dante’s Inferno, As Above, So Below is a striking and unique film that cleverly exemplifies its title by finding the horror within this claustrophobia of the soul.

Ok, one thing I've noticed with the critics reviews is that a lot of people are complaining that random things happen the catacombs. One thing I especially noticed was the mention to Dante's Inferno. In one of the rings of hell, they would punish people who had betrayed someone that was close to them, like a friend or brother, and didn't admit to their faults. And the punishment they would give those people in the epic was burying them, face down, in stone, with there feet shown above the rock. This is exactly the guide dudes fate after he says "it wasn't my fault," when he sees the burning car. It's things like this that make this movie such a masterpiece. Things that aren't just handed to you on a silver platter, that make you wonder.

One of my favorite movies. I love a movie that teaches me. I love a movie about hell and that has a great story. I love this because it references Bible, dantes inferno, principles of and mythology of alchemy, etc. fascinating. Great acting, excellent direction, spookiest location of all, the catacombs!! I love it when he asks are we dead??

id kill 2 of my brothers for this movie like actually ive never watched a horror movie as good as as aboev so below. The fcat that with the accomplishments this godsend of a movuie has made people still DARE to utter its name in a light that could even be anything BUT POSITIVE is a true sign that the devil from the bible is living within people that you could even know as your closest friends. I Love found footage movies and i Love everything about this movie. Aas above so below genuoinely changed my Life FOR THE BETTER and people out here couildnt even feel a tinge of the experience i had witnessing this beauty play out infront of me for the first time. the fact that i even had the grace to be in the same time period for the directors and everyone working on this movie to share the same air as me feels like im less deserving of anything. ie love as above so below so Much. I Love my lief because of this movie. please oh my god

This movie reminds me so much of Amnesia: Rebirth - the sounds, atmosphere, everything. As someone that has also roamed around and visited the catacombs in Paris, did this movie really freak me out.
