When former business partners Vic Puccinelli (Dean Martin) and Alvin Korwin (Jerry Lewis) enlist in the U.S. Army, they have different ambitions. Puccinelli, who has made the rank of sergeant, wants to see action rather than the drudgery of his current post. On the other hand, Korwin, who is a klutz, wants to stay out of combat and near his family in the United States. However, they both have to deal with stern Sgt. McVey (Mike Kellin) while also preparing for an Army variety show.

Eric P 07/12/2022 At War with the Army tells the story of conflicts all because of the straight man (Dean Martin) and the idiot (Jerry Lewis). While Dean Martin carried the film, At War with the Army was still tainted by an annoying Looney Tunes wannabe like Jerry Lewis doing gags that only Bugs Bunny would of done that happens to be only funny in cartoons because live-action attempts to duplicate cartoon humor have failed on numerous occasions. While the film did have a few laughs, this musical-comedy had no decent musical numbers that make me like this film. Last but not least, the editing in this film was subpar at times that it made this film look like a B movie. Overall, At War with the Army was not that good of a film and for their first starring film, Martin & Lewis could do better. See more 04/13/2022 LOL, the funniest war comedy ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis give horrible performances. The screenplay is badly written. Hal Walker did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. There story isn't much to speak of, but there are enough good gags to keep it enjoyable. Martin and Lewis also get a chance to do a few of their nightclub routines at one point.
