Dante Graham (Laz Alonso) is a hip-hop mogul, but he was a breaker; now he wants nothing more than to see an American team win the Battle of the Year, an international b-boy tournament. Dante picks former dancer Jason Blake (Josh Holloway), a boozy, widowed basketball coach, to select, then train a worthy team. With just three months to whip a crew of 13 headstrong guys into a cohesive unit, Blake, his assistant (Josh Peck) and a choreographer (Caity Lotz) have a daunting job ahead of them.

Characters are not developed enough. You don't feel for them. Result being, you end up as mere spectators instead of well-wishers. While the film preaches 'passion' for whatever you do, it is exactly what seems to be missing from it. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

01/02/2020 I really enjoyed the movie although it does get a lot better as the movie progresses See more 11/07/2019 Josh Holloway is coaching a put together break crew as USA must step up on the international scene. Loads of b-boys practice in a military / American Idol like setting, as they fall out one by one untill the team is ready. They show muscles in paris where the annual Battle of the Year event take place, but there are not many surprizes here. A sloppy film in most ways, and so very typical. I dig breakdance but I am no expert on the matter. It seem to get some things right, other things are way off the real thing. Not a god film, but I never expected it to be and I'm glad I just saw it after some channel surfing for some backround entertainment while kicking back some beers. 3 out of 10 moves.
