Rather than going back to the original fairy tale by Mme. Leprince de Beaumont and reenvisioning it, the film reformats the studios cherished animated original with actors and computer-animated special FX. It's less a remake than a replication.

I wrote a long review of this when it came out. Um. I really like the story, I love the Saints-San esque starting music. I can't now remember my clever insight- I thought it was awful- like a lego set with only three, really big pieces, that costs a fortune. Sorry.
