Ellroy's prose crawls into characters' secret hearts and under the reader's skin, but its foetid horrors become kitschy here, the script too streamlined and the lead performances too shallow to dredge the story's depths.

I should've believed the reviews. It was absolutely horrible. How could a director with Brian De Palma's stature be responsible for this mess. The two male leads should be wearing paper hats and serving fries. They certainly aren't actors. From the first scene, the picture had no credibility. I want my $3.99 rental fee back.

I liked that it was set in the 40’s and it was recreated well, but the story was pretty boring and the characters weeny interesting at all. Couldn’t finish the movie.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

Horrible…it’s called The Black Dahlia yet who finds her body and where and how is nothing like the truth!! They could’ve at least stuck to facts!! With that said it’s an extremely boring made up tale! Don’t get fooled by the big names.
