Cake wants to be edgy and genuine, to expose raw and visceral feelings. But it keeps from mining the most searing dramatic soil because, given the nature of the tragedy which it orbits, confronting them head-on may prove uncomfortable to audiences.

A great showcase for the new, dramatic Aniston but it isn't a great film. In it's final moments the movie grasps for a feel good ending which is just slightly out of reach.

I think this is a sadly underrated movie. Aniston does an excellent job of making you feel her character’s pain. This is not a movie you want to watch if you’re feeling down already!!

Definitely worth a watch, and better than ratings in the 40's. I was surprised just how well Aniston played the role of a drug seeking, depressed woman who is haunted by trauma. All the other actors played their parts well. The story moves to a resolution of her deciding to come out of it somewhat quickly at the end but the fact that she had people around her that were supportive shows what can happen when you have that.

I find it tremendously sad many are incapable of realizing the stellar and solid performance by Aniston. She is quite impressive. Please let go of the whole Rachael Green characterization and see her in a different light. Pathetically underrated movie.
