This is an old story, and a sad one, but it's also, I'm afraid, the nature of the beast. Go to Full Review

The film avoided apportioning blame, and instead presented a nuanced picture of a woman who was so much more fragile than her public persona suggested. Go to Full Review

Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death was made with great sensitivity. Sadly, great sensitivity was not always afforded to her when she was alive. Go to Full Review

K A @Kay-Ann Jan 5 I watched this as a therapist, genuinely wanting to understand Caroline as a whole person, not just through headlines. The title suggested a rounded portrait shaped by those who loved her, yet from the outset I felt primed to view her as damaged, unstable, and somehow deficient compared to others’ "stability." I’d like to believe the documentary aimed to challenge those who vilified her and expose how easily people take the moral high ground while justifying psychological harm in the name of "justice." Instead, it primarily centred her mental instability rather than her character development, missing an opportunity to challenge reductionist mindsets. More emphasis could have been placed on the relentless scrutiny faced by public figures, and on how readily we judge without context, irrespective of pre existing mental illness. Recognising the context and complexity of her distress doesn’t negate harm; it challenges the ease with which we turn a single crisis into a fixed moral identity. See more Read all reviews
