Lots of potholes Thrillers suspense I guess On Netflix See more Darja S @darjasuri Jul 22 I'm genuinely baffled that critics gave this 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, because it doesn't even deserve the 58% the audience gave it. The characters make consistently stupid decisions, there's no real structure or internal logic — things just work out because the plot needs them to. Everyone survives on pure luck rather than anything resembling intelligence or skill. And the attempt to capitalise on Navalny's legacy with a Novichok reference was a very bad idea, poorly executed. See more Roven B @cinnephile.01 Jul 1 not much of a christmas movie really. it was long but enjoyable, and definitely written by a middle aged white man with no idea what communication is, let alone GOOD communication. if ANYONE had simply stopped and listened to each other a lot of the plot points wouldn't have happened. watched for Sofia Carson and she didn't dissapoint See more Chris S @Janomi Jun 25 Carry-On takes a simple premise and turns it into a tense, fast-moving thriller. A TSA officer being blackmailed into letting a dangerous package onto a flight creates immediate urgency, and director Jaume Collet-Serra keeps the pressure on by making good use of the airport setting. The pacing is brisk, and the story rarely slows down. Jason Bateman is the movie's biggest asset. Playing against type, he delivers a calm, intelligent, and quietly menacing villain who's far more interesting than the hero. Taron Egerton is likable enough as Ethan, but his performance never fully sells the fear or desperation of someone trapped in such an impossible situation. The movie asks you to ignore a lot. As the story escalates, the security lapses, convenient plot developments, and airport logistics become increasingly hard to believe. Many characters feel one-dimensional. Carry-On is entertaining while it's happening, but it's also the kind of thriller that's easy to forget once the credits roll. See more Briana I @Anaire Jun 14 It was actually a lot better than I assumed. The beginning I wasn't impressed, it felt like a typical suspense movie. But as the film went on I was very into the cat and mouse game between Jason and Taron. I was surprised to see Bateman play a serious villain type role but I thought he did a pretty good job and look forward to him expanding his range. Taron was good too although I think anyone could have played his role, in fact I would have preferred they switched his role with Logan Marshall Greens character, I just think Logan would have executed it better because of his role in upgrade was fantastic. But I may be biased because I haven't saw Taron in anything besides this films. I also liked the detective she did amazing and I'd like to see her in more films as well. So overall it was a good movie, great action and gripping suspense. I'd recommend for movie night with the kids because it's suspenseful and pg. See more Read all reviews
