3.5/5
It’s an amusing, insightful performance, even when he’s falling out with his animatronic assistant, and there’s nothing inherently difficult in Torres’ performance style. This non-conformist is welcoming. Go to Full Review

Torres is still showing us how he sees the world, but he has found a way to invite us into it. To show us how to see what he sees. And if we’re all on the same page, can we really say he’s too “niche”? Go to Full Review

Torres remains a unique and special voice not just in comedy, but in the performing arts, and we could use more voices like his. Go to Full Review
Alex Valencia Q+ Magazine 3d
Julio Torres doesn’t give us answers. He gives us a new way of asking questions. And maybe that’s why this special lingers the way it does. Because it’s not just about how we see the world, it’s about how we see each other. Go to Full Review

Taj M @RT67826069 1d A muddied stream of consciousness is best for an afterparty, not a comedy special. See more Aaron O. @goatley1 3d This has to be one of the most underrated funny comics I've ever seen. I feel like he's trying to hard too be different. It has shades if Peewee Herman but falls well short of Paul Ruben's beloved character. Don't waste your time See more Elizabeth B @RT70751567 4d I just discovered this comic. And I want more! He may not be for everyone. But he is for me. And that is enough. I had never heard of him before last night. We were looking for something interesting and different on HBO. This has not happened in a while. ! But I am a 62 year old white woman and my boyfriend, who's even older, and I, watched this last night. And we were gob smacked. I literally think there's hope for humanity after watching this. I absolutely adore his playful deadpan delivery. This kid is seriously bent and I mean that in a good way. I could have done with just a little bit less of the robot But that's OK I still love it and I am so excited that I get to Search for every other thing that he's done Online and look forward to the pleasure Of watching it. I've already seen a little, turns out, because he wrote the Papyrus skit on SNL. Plus The Sink (having an existential crises), Cheques, and several others that are in that same vein. And that is the SNL that I love. See more Lester B. @LASportsFan 6d I really don’t understand how anyone finds this guy funny. Every single one of his specials or shows he has done have been awful. It feels as if someone with an agenda wants him to succeed so bad they keep throwing different shows and specials at us, even though no one thinks he is actually funny. I wish they would give more opportunities to other comedians that deserve a shot, instead of thinking that somehow if he gets one more chance he will catch on. Sorry to say, he just isn’t funny. I honestly can say he is the only “comedian” I have watched their specials and didn’t laugh once. And after this special, he has now done it twice. See more Read all reviews
