Trashy and idiotic, Crescent City is an embarrassment to crime dramas. This awful and stupid movie is filled with substandard performances in a poorly written story about police on the hunt for a serial killer. A plot twist at the end is laughably bad.

Give credit to the filmmakers for being willing to go darker than necessary. The atmosphere is moody and decadent enough to satisfy noir fans, but the plot keeps veering into strange digressions.

Fulfilled its intriguing premise in muddled focus per its foreseen quality due to lacked performative conviction that failed to obscure the unceremoniously, generically staged twisted turns, therefore drastically downsizing the thriller it should’ve been if actual efforts were considered. (C+)

I really can’t recommend this movie, I watched, should I say wasted my time until the very end. Was pretty easy to work out who did what etc, and it’s a NO from me.

In the time between watching this movie and reviewing it, I’d forgotten 99% of what transpired. Shockingly, this movie is not about New Orleans (“The Crescent City” being NOLA’s most recognizable nickname after “The Big Easy”). Instead, it takes place in a small town in Arkansas and was apparently shot in Arkansas, too. Characters (Terrence Howard & Nicky Whelan) just start banging out of nowhere. There’s no set-up. The scene feels like a cheesy porno. Luke (Esai Morales), Brian’s (Howard) partner, feels incredibly forced and caricaturist. The story is difficult to follow and the ending is stupid. This movie is very bad. No conceivable reason exists to watch it.
