When a mute woman suffering from amnesia arrives at the gates of an old orphanage, private investigator Mike Church is asked to find out who she is. With the help of a hypnotist, the woman regains her voice and recalls vivid memories of a couple from the 1940s torn apart by murder. Church begins to develop feelings for the woman, who he calls Grace, and then discovers he has a connection to the tragic couple from the 40s.

Even if the somewhat convoluted plot falls apart upon close inspection, Dead Again proves Kenneth Branagh has a solid knack for enjoyable pulp.

His film is both a good mystery movie and a good movie-movie; its sheer "movieness" is what gives the picture its kick. As his career progressed, Branagh may very well have made better films than 'Dead Again.' But he never made another one this fun.

Dead Again is a thrilling and well-acted mystery film with strong performances from Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson. However, its melodramatic climax proved disappointing, as it undermines the film’s more serious tone.

3.5 stars; A 1990s version of a Noir mystery with a touch of reincarnation. But then again, that would be underselling an excellent cast, performing exceptionally well. The cast includes some of my favorites from that period: Uma Thurman and Andy Garcia, as well as appearances from Robin Williams. I had forgotten what a great acting/directing talent Kenneth Branagh was. This was a good mystery, and like any good Noir the ending had its twists and turns.

I love this movie. It's a beautiful, suspenseful, thriller. I think the casting is beautiful and Robin Williams was a perfect addition to the cast. And when I was super young I had a huge crush on Andy Garcia which helped, but great movie 10 out of 10

Otherwise entertaining and suspenseful movie was compromised by a stupid error from the then novice director, Kenneth Branagh, whose acting was impeccable as always. Not-so-background music was played during crucial dialogue, which made much of the speech incomprehensible. It is absurd to have dialogue drowned out by mood music. If the scene itself doesn't create an adequate atmosphere of suspense, simply adding mood music just doesn't cut it.
