El Conde is a dark comedy/horror that imagines a parallel universe inspired by the recent history of Chile. The film portrays Augusto Pinochet, a symbol of world fascism, as a vampire who lives hidden in a ruined mansion in the cold southern tip of the continent. Feeding his appetite for evil to sustain his existence. After two hundred and fifty years of life, Pinochet has decided to stop drinking blood and abandon the privilege of eternal life. He can no longer bear that the world remembers him as a thief. Despite the disappointing and opportunistic nature of his family, he finds new inspiration to continue living a life of vital and counterrevolutionary passion through an unexpected relationship.

A weirdly Warhol-esque film that hones in on the montrocities of avarice -- especially with regard to acquiring power. It's a dark satire that points out how those insatiable elites "feed" on others to get where they are, and maintain their position. It also shows how among those in power, there is no such thing as love or loyalty; everything is conditional and transactional.

Our intro is dark and explanatory, and the violence is 'to die for.' The way they show our main story’s character is quite elegant and eye-catching, and I’m finding the storytelling to be rather fun as well. The imagery is fun and still feels poignant to our story, yet remains silly at times. There is treacherous behavior going on, and I’m hoping it holds some bearing to our story as it progresses further. The cinematography is done in such a way as to feel as though we’re watching art happen in person, and I’m finding it hard to look away. The bluntness of the dialogue is actually comical and refreshing, and is silly enough to be entertaining. A wonderfully told story and portrayal of an old tale of love and desires, passion and eternal loneliness, in a way that you felt as well as visually enjoyed.

El conde (2023) Unbearable Movie (12,052– 10 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) As a movie fan, I usually never give up watching a film, even when I do not like it. However, “El conde” (2023) is an unbearable movie about the despicable Augusto Pinochet, the most murderous dictator in South America in the 70’s. Amazing that a Chilean writes and directs such a silliness, turning Pinochet into a vampire. In my opinion, this rubbish movie is disrespectful to the countless victims of this notorious dictator.
