The acting is alright enough. The two kids aren't really anything special but their not terrible. Eddie Albert isn't given much to work with but he's probably the best thing ehre acting wise and isn't bad. Everyone else is forgettable including the bad guys. The acting in general is campy honestly. The editing isn't bad. It's a road movie mixed with a fantasy and oddly enough...Sci-Fi. It makes sense but it does bounce around a bit between the bad guys and the kids/Albert second half wise and the Sci-Fi element is so out of left field. Everything else is alright. The soundtrack needs to be used more. The climax is very anticlimatic and I'm not sure if it's because it drags or isn't shot that well. The practical effects are really good and still look great but the E.T. on a bike moment at the end is laughably bad. I thought this would have...more traditional witch and mountain woods type stuff to it like a First Blood type of setting. That's not what happens at all. Were mostly on the road and the Witch part is barely tied in. The title in general is very misleading as to what this is. It's kind of harmless though but I don't really see much reason to watch it with so many other better family or Sci-Fi pics in general or from the era. Most could skip this. See more Jacob B @RT89309114 09/11/2024 A decent sci-fi adventure from the '70s, Escape to Witch Mountain isn't some masterpiece of filmmaking and has some outdated effects work (the wirework actually holds up pretty well but the chroma key...not so much) but it does have good acting, likeable characters, is directed well and some fun moments, even if it does lose some steam towards the end. One of Disney's better films to come out of their first dark age and, in my opinion, much worthier of a recommendation than the 2009 remake. P.S. For any of you Don Bluth completionists who saw this entry on his Wikipedia page and decided to watch the movie for the opening credits sequence, don't bother. It's pretty basic and repetitive with no real animation. Evidently, Disney weren't interested in having him actually utilise his talents here. No Pink Panther-esque intro here, folks :( See more Dale R @iromulus9 07/07/2024 The story of two foster kids that have special abilities trying to find out who they are and where they came from. I wasn’t expecting this movie. The special abilities were a surprise and the big reveal at the end was awkward for me. The two children actors in the lead did a fair job, they didn’t distract from the movie. I do think it is worth a watch. See more Read all reviews
