Critics Consensus

Marred by goofy attempts at wit, subpar acting, and bland storytelling, Fantastic Four is a mediocre attempt to bring Marvel's oldest hero team to the big screen.

sheyla B. @seylaley 1d it's legendary and it have everything See more Angel S. @cineasta074 5d I loved this 2005 film.adaptation of our beloved "Fantastic Four". It was faithful to the Marvel Comic book , funny, light-hearted, dramatic when it needed to be, and action packed. A lot of people unjustly slam this movie really hard. It-s a comic biok movie not a Shakespeare play or an Italian Opera. I read Marvel Comics and watch superhero films to escape and have fun, and these late 1990s and early 2000s films luke Spider-Man, Blade, and the Fantastic Four were awesome comic book fun, action, special effects, and thought provoking drama & conflicts. I much prefer the Fantastic Four directed by Trim Story over the dark, overly gloomy, depressing and super-self conscious and cringy X-Men movies and that terrible Fantastic Four reboot that came afterwards. I give it a solid, well earned five stars! See more Travis M @TMorg007 May 20 Fantastic Four has never been portrayed very well on the screen in live action films, but this FF (and its sequel) are STILL the best versions we have yet. One day Marvel may get it's act back together, but in the meantime at this this one feels like it respects the source material. See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 20 Fantastic Four is one of my favorite and one of the best films in the 2000s FOX era Marvel movies. It actually does a really good job of adapting the characters into our world. The cast is very good and feels like the characters I know from comics and animation. Ben is the gentle giant who's treated unfairly, Reed and Sue are both smart scientists who double as lovers, and Johnny is a hothead who always gets in trouble, and I see that in all the performances in this movie. It's also funny watching Chris Evans play a Marvel character besides Captain America and still do it well. Dr. Doom is also cool, comic accurate, and feels like an actual threat you should fear. Unfortunately, the worst part of this movie is the CGI, which is definitely a product of its time. A lot of scenes look weird or out of a Pixar movie. But I can't even be angry about that, since they couldn't help the technology and resources available at the time. Overall, this movie is a very good adaptation of the FF. See more Oliver H @Oliverthemovieguy Feb 15 Fantastic four is a charming and fun movie, it's ultra cheesey but a great time of your just looking for some fun. See more Gerald H @RT00885100 Feb 9 20 years later, still ultra dumb. And I still don’t know why Fox and Sony chose not to follow the source material more closely back then. See more Read all reviews
