Though he once spent time in San Quentin, 22-year-old black man Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan) is now trying hard to live a clean life and support his girlfriend (Melonie Diaz) and young daughter (Ariana Neal). Flashbacks reveal the last day in Oscar's life, in which he accompanied his family and friends to San Francisco to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve, and, on the way back home, became swept up in an altercation with police that ended in tragedy. Based on a true story.

Man.. wow!!! Glad I caught this in theaters or I wouldnt have finished it if I tried to watch it at home. Powerful and sadly so relatable. So many of us experienced this story in real time. Its so sad man.

Im so glad I finally got to watch this!! Ryan Coogler caught the heart ans soul of a broken but good man. Michael B. Jordan was believable. Octavia Spencer showed so much range in her acting and Melonie Diaz shined. The film gave me goosebumps as any story that has police brutality should. Every action has consequences. Unfortunately for Oscar, his consequences came after the actions of others. This film was needed.

I love this film. Was so well chosen I honestly don't even know what to say, the acting felt so real it legit made me cry. I don't know if it's because I watched on January 2nd or what, but I literally had to stop what I was doing and just watch. I never do that. I just put on a movie and do a million different things in the background, but this time I found myself seated, and LOCKED IN. There were so many moments in the night where he could just have gone home and I don't know if I love or hated that it was and even his choice it was everyone around him his mother suggested he take the train even though hesitant he listened his asked his girlfriend if they can just stay home with their daughter she wanted to go out and insisted and look what happened that part hit me hard. This movie was legitimately so good I don't think it's one of those movies you rewatch 1000 times because it's too impactful this is a one time watch and I suggest going in completely blind.
