Expected it to be unwatchable, but the silly castle antics honestly gave me some laughs. What Worked: • Murray voicing both cats brings a ton of fun, sarcastic energy to the double role. • Connolly is awesome as the over-the-top villain and completely pops on screen. • The animal voice cast, especially Tim Curry, adds a super fun dynamic. The Friction: • The middle castle training part really dragged for me during the repetitive slapstick. • The identity mix-up plot honestly felt a bit too predictable. Verdict: Watch for a harmless bit of nostalgia. Skip if talking-animal tropes annoy you. See more Melissa M @Lisey Jun 20 Bill Murray was not exactly thrilled with being in the first Garfield movie. He was pretty adamant about it. That's why it's surprising that he voiced the famous cartoon cat in the sequel. In spite of Bill Murray's disdain for the first film. He seemed more Hands-On in the second movie. He even showed up on the set to collaborate. The sequel had a more diverse cast. It's definitely one of the better sequels. The movie had an All-Star comedy cast. In this film Jon wants to ask Liz to marry him. Liz has to go to London on business. So Jon makes a plan to go there to surprise her. The biggest surprise he gets however is when he opens the suitcase once he gets to London and out pops Garfield. This movie is a fun family friendly film. Like the first movie it has an awesome soundtrack. The animation is pretty cool too. See more Alison F @RT03847137 Apr 14 This is a great kids movie!! Admittedly the British cast out-act their american counterparts 10:1, but honestly serves the movie for the better. I have a strong dislike for Bill Murray (sue me) but I think he is a much better Garfield than the Chris. The comedy is solid, the plot is a modern mash-up of The Shaggy Dog and 101 Dalmations but it has just as much entertainment and heart as either. Such a fun romp. Just because a movie was financially successful, does not mean that a sequel can be made to it, even if the movie itself was bad. That sequel may not be an improvement over the original! We did not need to see more when it felt like it already ended. Who would feel interested in a story about a protagonist having a counterpart from another area? In this case, Garfield from America & Prince XII from Britain. Doesn't Garfield know that a dog leaving a mark of pee is not just American - could this say something about his political views? And about political views, Democrats could get offended because a song by Ted Hugent played & I learnt who Ted Nugent was in an episode of the Simpsons. It has many moments potty humour, & it gets old. Good to see Jon & Liz get engaged & have the British bulldog be named Winston (English people might feel this). Well, that is the quality of Tim Hill & may still be better than "Hop" - I was closer to 20th Century Studios really. See more Read all reviews
