The same sturdy conventionality that made Gladiator a hit means that it’s built to last without standing particularly tall. With apologies to Ridley Scott, it holds up fine without echoing into eternity.

It is an honorable movie, so are they all honorable movies. But that's not enough. It's not great. It's a disappointment. Caesar hates disappointment, so kill it swiftly and be done.

The new film has spectacular fight scenes in dazzling sets and a familiar story about honor and betrayal, courage and cowardice. It's the perfect vehicle for some old-fashioned sword-clanging fun.

Fine cast of actors bring this epic movie to life and you feel you're an eye-witness to the intrigue of ancient Rome, the grand-scale battles in Germania, and of course gladiator fighting in the Roman coliseum. This movie is rich in action scenes, enhanced by the big screen cinema and powerful sound. Puts you right there. If you want the ultimate viewing experience, don't rent this movie, see it at the theatre. Gladiator won five Oscars in 2001 you won't be disappointed.

I enjoyed this film thoroughly. Historical inaccuracies aside, it thrives off of a well thought out storyline, an amazing performance by Russel Crowe, and breath taking graphics. I’ll definitely be watching it again in the future.

7.9/10 I didn't think it was a masterpiece as it did feel a bit dragged out towards the end, Jaoquin Phoenix feels more cartoony than the rest of the cast, and the plot does feel a bit too preachy at times. With that said, the plot is still pretty good, the cast is still game and the visuals are beautiful. The direction is quite deft as well.

One of the all time greats. People forget the deepness of it, phoenix delivers one of the antagonist performances of all time "am i not merciful." By far the best score of any movie ever. My mum cries every time she watches it. Beautiful film that will echo into eternity.
