We discuss timeless issues--not artificially time-bound nonsense). Plot development was choppy by design and that bothered me some. It was interrupted by character development, which was achieved a la flashbacks that, for me, lasted a little too long and there were too many of them. It makes sense in the larger context, so not a deal breaker for sure. The reveal, for me, was tipped off at the dumpster scene, though I was kind of thinking it a little earlier than that. I liked the trope. It was well executed. All I can say is, pay attention to his use of names and titles (some people he calls by name, others by a title. Why does he do that? The writer tips his his hand to some emotional intelligence on that subtle detail). Definitely a popcorn and soda pop nostalgic feel good movie that drew imagery from Terminator (yeah, I know that's 1980s, but it was only a decade old at best when we enter the 1990s) and it's a shame this movie wasn't in theaters longer. The acting was good. Haley Lu Richardson stole the show, though, and her character (Ingrid) is my 1990s Gen X honeypot crush. If you were born in that generation called X, I recommend this one not as an inspiring film to lift you to new heights of consciousness, understanding, and awareness, but for those times when you just want to watch a good old fashioned movie with an ending that, while predictable, is satisfying.
