Tabs W @tabsers Mar 19 A Goofy Movie is my favorite film. It is so much more than just a GOOFY movie. It gives him something he’s never really had before: a deeper purpose in the form of a son...and not just any son, but one who doesn’t want to be anything like him. I don’t think there’s a more honest depiction of a single father and his teenage son. What’s incredible is how grounded all of this feels, even in a world where Bigfoot exists and they end up dancing on stage with Powerline. The writing is great, especially in the quieter moments. And then there’s the soundtrack, which I genuinely think is one of the best in Disney history. I’ve seen the making-of, watched panels, chatted with Goofy’s voice actor several times, revisited this movie countless times--and I still notice something new every watch and get emotional every time. It’s funny and weird, but at its core it’s deeply human. It’s about misunderstanding each other, growing up, and finding your way back. And for me, it will always feel personal. Max Goof tells his crush, Roxanne, that he’s going to a Powerline concert in Los Angeles—but Goofy surprises him by taking him on a cross-country fishing road trip instead. Max argues with his dad because he’s embarrassed by Goofy’s goofy nature, afraid of becoming like him, and frustrated as a teenager trying to impress Roxanne.
