I'd always heard good things about it but never read anything about it, so my expectations were often subverted. All the characters are perfectly portrayed, and everything leads to an extremely moving plot that fills your heart and your eyes with tears. Il finale porta ad un climax di tensione che si risolve in pochi minuti ed in modo tanto semplice quanto potente. It is a compelling drama with a strong performance from Clint Eastwood, good character development for the main protagonists, a good mix of moments that are heartwarming, sad and even a little funny and a climax that does something different rather than the stereotypical guns-blazing you might expect. It's not a mind-blowing cinematic experience but it does have good intentions and enough memorable aspects beyond Eastwood politely asking these gentlemen to leave his domain to make it worth a watch. Still not the kind of movie I'd expect to have its own Wikipedia page focusing on the characters. *The Hmong actors' inexperience is sometimes evident, except for the sister. I liked her and her own intergenerational friendship with our politically incorrect hero. The seriousness of the movie combined with the few moments of laughter when the jokes hit provide a truly gripping story. While I can see why it is controversial, I don't think it takes away at all from the movie or its message. Please, you will never regret watching this movie.
