Dr. Ryan Stone is a medical engineer on her first shuttle mission. Her commander is veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky, helming his last flight before retirement. Then, during a routine space walk by the pair, disaster strikes: The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Ryan and Matt stranded in deep space with no link to Earth and no hope of rescue. While there is no way to truly re-create the wholly immersive theatrical experience of "Gravity" at home, the newly reissued Blu-ray comes closest — reintroducing a powerful Dolby Atmos sound mix and intriguing extra features into a more affordable orbit.

Gravity is a one-dimensional spectacle. Technically sleek but narratively weightless, it relies on visual wizardry to distract from a bare-bones story. The film opens with long, beautiful shots and an impressive sense of spatial immersion — then spends the next hour dragging out an extremely thin plot with endless close-ups of Sandra Bullock breathing. The setup is stronger than the payoff. Once the tension wears off, whats left is a hollow journey through increasingly implausible obstacles. It's not profound, it's not moving — it's just long.

Visually stunning & fast paced. The plot & acting are decent & it’s a thriller that actually keeps you watching. I’d recommend seeing it at a theatre & with a date, if you intend to actually watch the movie that is… Sandra Bullock pulls off the fish out-of-water or in this case, novice astronaut-scientist out-of-earth protagonist who finds herself & rest of crew trapped in space. From there the movie doesn’t really slow down for much, so pee before entering. Luckily, it’s also only 1.5 hrs long, but feels much shorter. If you want a realistic "sci-fi" movie, that doesn’t have a bunch of superheroes in leather, you’ll enjoy this film.

A solid film with a genuinely gripping premise. I kept catching myself thinking — how terrifying it would be to be stranded up there. Probably the most isolated a person could ever be, completely cut off from civilisation with no way out. Some moments felt slightly unrealistic, though I'll admit I'm not exactly an expert in physics or space, so I can't say for certain. A good watch for anyone who enjoys space-themed films — and a reminder that the universe is very, very indifferent to whether you make it home.
