Guns Up follows Ray Hayes (Kevin James), an ex-cop and devoted husband and father who leads a dangerous double life as a mob henchman. On the brink of leaving "The Family" and making his dream of opening a diner with his wife Alice (Christina Ricci) a reality, his final job goes off the rails. With the clock ticking, Ray has one night to get his unsuspecting family out of the city before he gets snuffed out.

Guns Up is solid proof that a familiar story, told with grit and heart, can be enough. It’s an undeniable victory for Kevin James, who proves that he can pull off an action hero. It's entertaining if, admittedly, not too deep.

For a film with a name like “Guns Up,” there’s surprisingly little by way of armed shootouts until the final act. For a tale of a family man moonlighting as a mob enforcer, the story and action lack the urgency suggested by its one-last-job premise.

This movie is certainly for people who want to see action comedies, like Bad Boys. After a long time, I am seeing a nice clean (no sex, but plenty of violence) and entertaining action comedy movie with a touch of family values. Enjoyed every bit of it. Especially last 45 minutes!!! Dont go by negative comments. Throw reality and logic into dustbin. Just watch the movie and enjoy :-)

Oh my god what a terrible movie. I wanted to give Blart a chance after the surprisingly entertaining Becky. This was just awful. It started out interesting. Oh Melissa Leo is in it. I like her. Gone in the first 20 min. His wife is Christina Ricci? How insulting to her but ok. Nice to see her working. Ridiculous plot twist kneecaps the rest of the movie. Pathetic attempt to finish as a family comedy. Nah. I gave it one star for Ricci and a half for Blart. Not the best work for either of them. Blart.

A hypothetically ideal American family goes against their foes to preserve their chances at a better life. Energetic action sequences with enough spillage paired with the cute twist at the very end saves the day. Great acting by the cast. Excellent special effects. Powerful sound effects. It's a fun watch.
