Alain E @AlainE 07/08/2025 This is totally ridiculous. The cop killer, in the opening scene is slapped by his mother because he overslept! I have not committed many robberies, but the shootout in the beginning looks completely unrealistic. We are in 1951 and the protagonist goes afterwards in a public swimming pool and grabs a woman he never met before to teach her swimming. Then, they go to her house and her family leaves to go to the movies and behind stays their daughter with an unknown man. That genre is a lazy, very limited movie to make chock full of close quarter, easy to manufacture tension. Garfield and Winters, both character actors each playing their one role. Garfield permanently in a state of tension for one reason or another with brief periods of relief or joy before it all comes crashing down. Winters the frumpy, pleasant gal that just wants to be loved and will absorb all manner of abuse in the process. A perfectly retched movie, horrible writing with tension causing twists that are illogical. The only bright spot the end when the Winters character shoots Garfields and we know the movie will thankfully soon end.
