An award-winning bestseller comes to life when young Stanley Yelnats, dogged by bad luck stemming from an ancient family curse, is sent to Camp Green Lake, a very weird place that's not green and doesn't have a lake. Holes is not your average kids movie. It is much more serious and meaningful. Maybe this is because of the tone of the book. But, having not read it, I can't say for sure. There are very long stretches of time where there are no jokes, it isn't super lighthearted or campy, and it feels like the task at hand is to tell a good story. But anytime there was a joke or comedic scene it was always good and all the jokes landed. The cast is also great. Shia LaBeouf is pretty good in the role and it's way easier to take him seriously in this movie than in Transformers (mainly because he's not screaming like a girl in this movie.) Sigourney Weaver is good as the warden and plays the character tough. And Tim Blake Nelson is very funny and provides some of the comedic moments. Overall, Holes is a good movie for the whole family. Kids and adults alike can easily enjoy this one. Definitely worth checking out.

This was a definite watch because it is almost word by word to the book. In the end it made me angry when they say "you have to fill all the other holes yourself", although no one filled the mile long plot hole about that mountain which just somehow moved from Latvian to Texas.

Ok just ok it is about this kid called Stanley Yelnats and he gets sent to Camp Green Lake as ap punishment for finding shoes fall out of the sky. Stanley has to dig holes all day in the sun ok movie 5/10

Absolute staple! The book got me into residing as a young kid and the movie only made me more encouraged! It is brilliant, and well acted by Lebauf (or should i say Stanley Yelnats).
