HUNTER HUNTER follows a family living in the remote wilderness earning a living as fur trappers. Joseph Mersault (Devon Sawa), his wife Anne (Camille Sullivan), and their daughter Renée (Summer H. Howell) struggle to make ends meet and think their traps are being hunted by the return of a rogue wolf. Determined to catch the predator in the act, Joseph leaves his family behind to track the wolf. Anne and Renée grow increasingly anxious during Joseph’s prolonged absence and struggle to survive without him. When they hear a strange noise outside their cabin, Anne hopes it is Joseph but instead finds a man named Lou (Nick Stahl), who has been severely injured and left for dead. The longer Lou stays and Joseph is away, the more paranoid Anne becomes, and the idea of a mysterious predator in the woods slowly becomes a threat much closer to home.

Hunter Hunter reminded me that I have absolutely no desire to live off the grid. Between the isolation, the mystery, and the constant feeling of unease, I'd be packing my bags before dark. Camille Sullivan was brilliant and made every moment feel authentic, and the atmosphere kept me on the edge of my seat. That ending? I'll probably be seeing it in my dreams tonight.

Had to sign up to write a review, since the rating is the most misleading I have ever seen! Family living in the woods for ... decades? Mom, dad, teenage daughter. Dad is an "expert hunter". Mom is scared of all animals/everything, and hates killing them to eat, after having spent at least 13 years in the forest, and hates living there! Mom does not know that wolves very very rarely attacks humans, neither does the expert hunter it seems! Daughter likes it more, but also does not seem to have adapted to killing animals, after living in the forest all her life! Random people playing around in the remote forest, get the short end of the stick. Dad says nothing when something VERY relevant comes up! Mom suddenly turns 180 degrees, at the very end. This movie makes 0 sense, half a star for the forest.

I went in thinking ok its free, so I will give it a try. Surprised me that it kept me interested the whole time, some areas might have slowed down but not for long. Unique story and I see why it was defined as a horror, not a fan of most horrors but I liked this one.

Looks like I am a rare viewer who did not appreciate this movie. It’s well made, well acted, gripping, and engaging story, until the last 20 minutes where it goes seriously off the rails. Be warned, it’s not the movie you think it is, for better or worse.

It’s different than its horror/thriller contemporaries . The movie does a great job of setting up the plot twist and when happens it’s fast and furious from then on. Trigger warning The ending is brutal and not for those who are sensitive to gory scenes. For those who can and do watch this film it’s worth it.
