Not just within the moment you are viewing it, but rather within every future idle moment where you are made to reflect upon the nature of your own existence in a whole new way. See more Kevin P @RT55971421 Dec 11 One of the most bizarre and unique viewing experiences I've ever had with a movie. It's such a loosely connected story that's so scattershot and unfocused with its ideas that its dialogue feels more like script notes than any semblance of a normal human conversation. But that's the movie's charm. It pulls you into a hypnotic trance it's so weird, but you can't stop watching it cause it's so unpredictable. The film is very scattershot, incoherent, and abstract, but like the blanket, it's all connected. The soundtrack very charming. The film has an Impressively stacked cast. But they all seem very confused about their motivations and dialogue. Conversations are so improvisational that they lack flow and it feels less real and more like people shouting random lines. Which makes sense when you learn about the insane production history. That being said, it still works since the whole premise is a bunch of neurotics trying to comprehend philosophy with a lighthearted absurdist tone. See more Mason M @RT73597940 Oct 19 I think I Heart Huckabees is much smarter than most give it credit for and actually achieves what most movies try and sadly fail to do, make a point and make you think. This movie is pretty much bound to succeed in my book, it has one of the more incredible groups of people I've seen work on a film with David O Russell writing and directing, Job Brion on music (with one of his best scores, Peter Deming on photography, and a simply amazing ensemble cast. The cast is definitely a highlight. I'm always immensely happy to see Jason Schwartzman is the starring role, and Watts, Walburg, Hoffman, Law, and Huppert are all great. But this film is really great in the writing and filmmaking. I'm big on Philosophy so I really loved this film's take on the big opposing ideas it presents that make the film's conflict. And I was really impressed with how it should be scattered with the ensemble cast and crazy plots and conflicting ideas, but the film was always able to stay on path and on its point and never felt disjointed. This film is really just such a joy to watch. There's something in the world building or the characters or the dialogue that just made me love watching this so much. It's the first film I've seen in a while that I really got really immersed in and found myself in the world. The writing of this film really is where it shines though, in its dialogue and the general concept of the film and the intricacy of the plot. I really don't get at all why I Heart Huckabees has such a mixed reputation. It's such a fun film that's so packed with content actual substance, I'd go as far to say that it's a masterpiece. It holds up incredibly well 20 years later, and remains a uniquely brilliant work of art.
