Cork B @RT87142816 Mar 23 It looks good, has lots of scenic locals. Cast is solid - I am not a Tom Hanks fan, but can't deny he is a good actor. That all said, this thing is a mess. There is some sort of shadow agency that want to sell a world ending virus to highest bidder, but everyone in the agency backstabs each other - literally. The crazy guy wants to save the world from overpopulation by killing half of everyone (where have I seen this done better?). Even if he succeeds, by his own bacteria analogy, that only sets the 30 day counter back one day. Sigh. And then finally and probably most importantly - if the guy wants to release a virus, why doesn't he just DO IT instead of an elaborate historical treasure hunt? They MAY have explained this somewhere in the 1st ADHD half of the movie, but I must have missed it. The story moves at a brisk pace, the theme of overpopulation adds a provocative edge, and the high production value shows in every scene. Dan Brown paints a character picture both physical and personality of Sienna that Felicity does not quite achieve. Though she nailed it as Jen in Rogue One. It may have better with Emily Blunt as Sienna. The film, though visually stunning, just does not build the suspense and urgency the book portrays. The emotion that was so good in the first film is just not there. There is much in the complex story that is just missing in the film. Nice film but prefer the book. For this film by the way. I’m not catholic, I’m not Muslim. This film is a nightmare of conversion therapy and used as an excuse to justify poisoning lesbians to damage their sexual health and sterilize them so they can’t have children. Hence the whole virus plot. A revolting piece of "cinema". It’s about hpv. It’s about punishing lesbians just like MidSommar which is about the same thing and the same people.
