The most fitting and laudable word to compliment the "Journey’s End" ensemble is maturity. Each of the principal players exudes some growth of that trait both on and off camera.

You don't have to be a student of history to know that the trenches during World War I were horrific places to fight. Journey's End does not attempt to glorify that field of battle, but it also never quite fully commits to the true horror either...

A good movie, with building tension throughout. While the acting was great, there just wasn’t much depth to the roles. The movie goes where you expect it to- which may be the point in a strong reminder of patriotism and the human cost of war.

A tedious plot and at times frivolous dialogue. Impossible to care for any character due to the lack of character development. I also had to turn on the closed captions to understand what the characters were saying (or mumbling in a thick accent). Then there's the black screen. Now I know it must be dark in the trenches...but...c'mon. Give this one a hard pass. A war movie that will certainly bore you to death.

It's much more of a slow emotional drama than a war movie. The characters feel quite shallow and the theme seems to be just a pretty dressing for something that would otherwise be quite unrelated.

JOURNEY'S END is a well directed, in the trenches, WWI drama; it's well acted and very realistic. The flick's not an action nor any sort of patriotic, flag waving movie and it's a top notch production. Be prepared to come away from it very (very) sober.
