Combining a proudly queer coming-of-age story with a wild sense of humor, Lesbian Space Princess is a raucous animated adventure with a big heart to go along with its rebellious spirit.

Unchallenging and sometimes clichéd but ultimately good queer fun, this just about balances zany humour with earnestness, boosted by terrific comic creations the Straight White Maliens. Go to Full Review

The gender satire might have been darker or more pointed, yet the mood is warm, endearing and giddy. Go to Full Review

Despite some missteps, directors Varghese and Hough Hobbs clearly have put a lot of love into this project, an independent animation that showcases the brightness of queer joy in the darkness. Go to Full Review

It's clear the film is heavily inspired by several animated comedies from 'Cartoon Network,' unfortunately it has no idea how to effectively replicate them. Go to Full Review

Lesbian Space Princess is a well-crafted, colorful animated film where queer, quirky humor and emphatic lesbian representation come together in a vibrant, playful package. It may not work for everyone, but it’s destined to become a cult classic. Go to Full Review

Brenden C @RT94235129 1 day ago An abysmal attempt of gay representation. They are trying so hard to make being gay a character trait for the main characters, the jokes don't really land, and is so vulgar and overly sexual that it actually pains me. There were a couple of jokes that made me giggle, but most of them just either flew over my head because I didn't know they were jokes, or they weren't funny in the slightest. I do not hate this movie because it is overly LGBT, I hate it because it's an awful representation of what it is like to be gay. (Coming from a straight man whose friend group consists of 35% LGBT people, who I love very much.) See more Derek M @bondfool 1 day ago I am squarely in this movie's audience. I love adult animation, I love nerdy stuff, I'm gay as hell, I love Australian comedy... This didn't really do it for me. It's been a couple of months since I watched it, and I can't remember a single joke. I found the protagonist unlikable, and not in an intentional way, and it all felt very first draft and surface-level. It's a shame that there's so few queer comedies. If there were more, it wouldn't make the disappointing ones sting so much. See more Daniel S @RT62130670 2 days ago Not appropriate for children. See more Nerdy C @NerdyCritic 2 days ago I want to start with the positive's, there is a sub story about the main character having to over come her self doubt which I think was handled well, and the antagonist where the only likeable character's... that's it. now the negative, because oh my is this film bad. all the jokes rarely land , you could see it coming a mile away and was all one note. I like a good Pride joke but there a limit before it just gets dull. all the character's besides willow where horrible and bland, which includes the main character which felt like a cry babe narcissist which turned what could have been a good "believe in yourself" story into a "ME ME ME (crying)" story. the ending was just terrible and uncomfortable. and the story fails because you can predict what will happen, a basic story, and there isn't a single character you are rooting for besides the main antagonist because they the only likeable characters. I say this is a very bad film, I wouldn't say it is the worst film, it just blah. See more BrokenBacon T @Berzix 2 days ago This movie is revolutionary and made me discover who I really am. 100% recommend. See more Teddy B @RT90521672 3 days ago Films like 'Lesbian Space Princess' are an especially tough case---almost as unbearably pitiable as the directors want Saira to appear---an independent film, made with what seems like a good amount of passion, that just...isn't good. Its biggest flaws are, of course, its seemingly accidental stereotyping, but also its overwhelming need to emulate bigwig adult animated shows and properties. It reeks of desperation: trying to copy Rick & Morty's style of humour and dialogue, and the tired Family Guy troupe of telling a joke before it happens, showing the joke, lingering on it...still lingering...and ultimately going nowhere and boring the audience to tears. It's a shame this wasn't better, especially with Aunty Donna who are trying their darndest to make this script funny. If LSP outright embraced its campiness---going for a queer version of Flash Gordon or old sci-fi serials, already steeped in cheesiness---I would've found it a lot more endearing, and less so commiserable.
