It's easy to see how parents and teachers of school-aged kids could find "The Little Traitor" useful to begin an introductory conversation about tolerance and friendship. But the film's childish tone does little to enlighten the rest of us. Go to Full Review

08/06/2020 Just when you think there's nothing new to learn about the life & times of the people in Palestine in the weeks before the founding of the State of Israel - this sweet, tender film comes along. Performances both nuanced and natural, unusual story from an unusual perspective. A definite audience-pleaser, probably worth a second viewing someday. See more michael s 06/08/2020 A great little movie. Touching and heartwarming. Glad I went with the audience reviews. When there is a wide discrepancy between the audience reviews and the critics reviews, I always go with the audience. See more 11/01/2019 My friend, a seventh generation Israeli, born in 1939, grew up when this story took place, was a peer and neighbor of Amos Oz in Jerusalem of that time. The story could have been about himself, with the British, himself running messages between Israeli outposts, his grandfather killed by ricocheting shrapnel. If you haven't experienced this first hand, don't knock it. I think the story captures very well what was happening at that time, and the oversimplification is what makes it real and impactful. See more 02/20/2013 A wonderful little story, not told with great sophistication, but well acted, with a touch of humor and overall very worth one's time. The biggest problem here is the typical leftist Rotten Tomatoes reviewer's bias against anything to the right of Marx. We've taken to calling this lefty hotspot Rotten Reviewers but thanks to all of those Audience reviewers who rated it fairly. See more Frances H 01/07/2013 Sweet, warm, touchingly wonderful movie about a young boy coming of age in Palestine on the verge of the creation of the state of Israel, and his friendship with a British soldier who teaches him much about life and tolerance. Alfred Molina shows that he can play any role and little Ido Port shines as Proffy. See more 11/17/2012 Heartwarming. Charming...an excellent, well written movie. The actors were chosen very well for their parts, and they did a really great job. Nice little history lesson in this, too. An ending that made me teary eyed. What more can you ask for?...
