A lonely, aging movie star named Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and a conflicted newlywed, Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), meet in Tokyo. Bob is there to film a Japanese whiskey commercial; Charlotte is accompanying her celebrity-photographer husband. Strangers in a foreign land, the two find escape, distraction and understanding amidst the bright Tokyo lights after a chance meeting in the quiet lull of the hotel bar. They form a bond that is as unlikely as it is heartfelt and meaningful.

Lost in translation(2003) is a dead and a stupid movie, and I don't know for what? I kept looking for a moment of redemption which never came. Sofia Coppola should leave film making to her father. And, from where did they get that assortment of repulsive looking Japanese?

I get what it was trying to portray, but it was too slow and melancholy for me. Very beautiful scenes of Tokyo and some of the themes addressed were relatable on a personable level.

Hands down one of my all time favorite films. The tone, atmosphere, sights and sounds whisk you away to the mystical sometime otherworldy city of Tokyo and greater Japan. I've never been to Japan but I leave half my heart there everytime I watch this film.
