Logan D @Greynomad38 Dec 9 Magnetic Rose is exactly within my wheelhouse. Engineers find an abandoned space station. A sci-fi ghost story. Surreal, atmospheric, and psychologically heavy. Stink Bomb is the lightest of the three although it does feature some gore. A lab tech gains the superpower of being stinky. However, he has no control over it nor is he very intelligent. As he makes his way to Tokyo the government struggles to stop him. Cannon Fodder hits hard, reminiscent of Orwell's 1984. In the future, the livelihood of most citizens depend on manning huge cannons fired at enemies that may or may not exist. Each short features strong direction and distinctive visual identity enhanced by emotional and/or existential weight. Highly Recommended See more Jay W @RT52162311 Aug 24 "Memories" is a trilogy of anime short films. Typically, in a movie like this, the three stories would have some connective link. In this one, the common factor is the fact is the sci-fi element. Beyond that, they all have their own unique feel. The first short, "Magnetic Rose" has a very different feel compared to the other two. It is darker, more physiological and the only one that ties to the title "Memories". It is the best one of the bunch, but it doesn't do a good job setting the tone of the films to follow. The other two are fine, albeit a lot more lighthearted in tone. See more glen a @RT99770220 03/05/2022 You get 3 non-related episodes in "Memories", but they are not of equal quality. This movie deserves an A just for the first segment alone. It is a marvelous piece of animation that tells a wonderfully imaginative story. The second segment is beautifully animated, but I just didn't care for the story. The third segment does a nice job of world building, but there really isn't a story. Watch the first segment, but turn it off after that, unless you have time to kill.
