In this spellbinding thriller, detectives Jake Doyle (Martin Lawrence) and Mary Kelly (Melissa Roxburgh) seek the help of an incarcerated serial killer named The Artist (John Malkovich) when a copycat killer strikes. We can admire and enjoy the fact that Mindcage winds up doing things we don’t anticipate, but the film might have been better served if it got more outrageous a little earlier.

While this movie has good potential, the acting was quite lackluster. Martin Lawrence is absolutely *not* a drama/thriller actor, and his co-lead Melissa Roxburgh was so bland. I thought John Malcovich could pull his character off, but everyone around him was so boring, it was hard not to fall asleep. The "twist" made me audibly go WTF. Overall I'd give it a 3.5/10

It was so bad we laughed. I LOVE John Malcovich and whilst he is always watchable, as is Robert Knepper, the film was a disaster. Dialogue, acting, (other than those mentioned and Martin Lawrence was ok), plot - totally unoriginal stealing plots from the best thrillers. How on earth did it get funded? Must’ve been cos of John’s star power. He must be shaking his head now.
