In 1999, as Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon nears its breaking point, renowned Israeli architect Yacov Rechter is commissioned to design a monument honoring fallen soldiers of the Christian South Lebanon Army. His idealistic son, and successor, Amnon challenges him to build something radically different: a memorial for all victims of the war -- Christian and Muslim alike. As father and son clash over loyalty, complicity, and art, their creative journey mirrors that of a nation divided, and the monument becomes a haunting symbol of a peace that never lasts.

A well-produced and well-put-together treatment of the story, but it also leaves out a lot. Go to Full Review

Monument finds itself in that very uncertain rut, both between the central architect and his important project and, externally, the storytelling yield of Bryan Singer. Go to Full Review

Captivating, gripping, emotionally engrossing. A powerful protest against war, and a protest for love, compassion, peace, equality and tolerance. Go to Full Review

Catherine F 14h Very thoughtful, hopeful and ultimately tragic story that takes the audience on a roller coaster ride that never ends. The hopes, aspirations and challenges facing every new generation are on repeat, even to this day. Terrific performances and realistic settings lend authenticity and emotion to the story. See more Ashley Mar 21 Story telling, visuals, acting, emotional impact all amazing See more Alexander F @RT42380769 4d A great allegorical story that uses real life events to capture the emotions of a nation in constant conflict. In doing so, it conveys multiple themes across a vast spectrum: from the geopolitical to the timeless tale of a son growing out of his father's shadow while simultaneously trying to create a more hopeful future for his children. And yet, despite juggling so much, it never felt cumbersome for me as a viewer. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in seeing a view into the real struggles of a son/father/artist living in the midst of a all-consuming conflict.
