Harry H @Movies10 2d producer Lawrence Kasanoff revealed the film was released unfinished: "I'm telling you the effects in that movie are not the final effects. I never anticipated that someone would take the movie and go, 'it's good enough'. We weren't done. We never finished that movie. But the studio said, 'we don't care'. Yeah, really not much to say here, we all know how awful this one is. Only reason it gets a full star and not just half of one is because for some reason, it won’t let me click half a star. Strange. But yeah, terrible (I mean TERRIBLE) effects, poor acting, awful story, the costumes look like something kids would where to go trick or treating, and it has possibly the worst line-delivery in cinematic history- “Now YOU… will die!” This movie sucks. See more Romas M @Romas Jul 17 Greetings from Lithuania. "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" (1997) is a terrible movie. Acting is terrible, special effects were terrible, as well as directing. There are some interesting documentaries online that shows how this disaster was made - its a interesting stuff. Revisiting this movie in 2026 on a newly remastered 4K UHD by Arrow videos and I did enjoyed it more then when I saw it first time in 1997 - I knew what I was getting into and remaster of 4K itself is splendid - this movie looks amazing on 4K and sound is excellent as well. Those reasons alone, plus with involvement of some beer on evening did made me kinda like this movie on some level - it is fun nonsense. What it does right is that it throws all off the MK characters on screen and makes them show all their special tricks. Overall, fun can be had while watching it with a correct mind set, but 4K UHD edition is highly recommended. Also some light alcohol is a must.
