NIGHTRIDE is a wry, real-time one-shot thriller set on the midnight streets of Belfast. It places us in the driver's seat with smalltime dealer Budge as he tries to pull one last deal with cash borrowed from a dangerous loan shark. When the handover goes catastrophically wrong, Budge finds himself in a race against time to find his missing product and get a new buyer before the loan shark tracks him down.

Not too many movies can make a lively thriller out of a story that's mostly a series of phone calls, but Nightride succeeds in doing so. The movie overcomes some crime drama clichés with a riveting lead performance by Moe Dunford.

Pretty good. Very tense at times. For a very similar concept but with a bit more excitement, check out "Wheelman", another Netflix film. "Locke", starring Tom Hardy, is another "guy in a car" movie, with much lower stakes but probably the most satisfying of the three.

I found myself chain-smoking from the anxiety of this Nightride. This real-time single-take shot film was certainly an edge of your seat tense and suspenseful ride. It's certainly an impressive feat as only his second full length film for short-film director Stephen Fingleton. I had my doubts at first - I mean what can you really accomplish in one take for 97 mins, but short-film writer Ben Conway (who makes his first full length feature film debut) managed to throw in some tense twists, curve-balls and even some amusing one-liners to keep me entertained the entire time. The story wasn't really revolutionary, but the way it was shot, and the fact this was all in real time, just made the writing that much more exciting. Moe Dunford as Budge helped elevate the story with great body language and mounting intensity. This is a great slickly crafted minimalistic Irish crime thriller and it's certainly worth the watch. A well deserved 8/10 from me.

Terrific single take movie with a superb performance by Moe Dunford in the central role. 85% of the film is simply the main character driving and answering his phone. But there's more dramatic tension in this film than many with numerous action sequences. Well worth watching
