06/04/2022 Ties Everything Up At The End In True Schmaltz Feel-Good Fashion, Happy-Clappy Tune Cued & Ready. Not All That Good Overall Because The Characters Are All In Self-Depreciation Sadness, Which Is Well Over Most Kid's Heads. I Figure The Target Audience (Kids+Families) Will Tune Out To That Stuff.. As Did I.. It's Too Depressing.. I Just Awaited Predictable Happy Ending. Thankfully That Arrived Prior To Me Nodding Off. See more 04/30/2022 Cute movie though the ending was a bit over the top. Would have been better without Sam Worthington. He's useless in this movie despite that fact that most of the budget probably went to him. See more 04/19/2021 This is an inspiring children's movie about learning how to overcome one's losses, with a plot that resembles the one from ‘Karate Kid 2' but with some class performances as well. The story revolves around 11-year-old with a challenging relationship with his dad after the loss of a mother. After discovering his talent for making and flying paper planes, he enters the national championship… Ed Oxenbould is brilliant as a boy, Sam Worthington (‘Avatar') does a good job a dad in his short screen time, while Terry Norris is a scene stealer as quirky grandpa. See more 04/25/2020 This movie is sweet, engaging, innocent and super enjoyable for the whole family. Adults will need to suspend disbelief quite a bit, as well as let go of logic and continuity. But my clever 10 year old daughter loved it and had zero quibbles or complaints. It was a fun journey for all of us to go on together. One note to parents: It does involve grief over a mother who passed away. See more 03/04/2019 Really loved this sweet movie, and I liked that the bully quickly became a best mate, how the friendship with Kimi progressed, the relationship between the other competitor and his father, and the grandfather's role.
