Directed with brutal honesty by Héctor Babenco, the film exposes the failure of the child protection system in Brazil in the 1980s, exposing the reality of invisible children on the margins of society. What Babenco achieves here is impressive: an almost documentary-like narrative, where non-professional actors—many from the same social conditions portrayed—deliver performances so genuine that they blur fiction with reality. The young Fernando Ramos da Silva, in the title role, does not act: he lived Pixote so intensely that his true story ended tragically, being killed by the police at age 19, years after the film's release. His off-screen life ended up being as brutal as the script. The dingy, claustrophobic photography, the minimalist soundtrack, and the dry rhythm amplify the helplessness the film imprints on each scene. It's a cinema that doesn't ask permission to disturb—and does so masterfully. More than a film, Pixote is an urgent cry, an uncomfortable mirror of Brazilian reality, and proof that cinema, when courageous and truthful, can be a powerful agent of denunciation, transformation, and memory. Talvez isso ocorra pq é tão próximo da realidade. Tem cenas que são bizarras, mas como chamar algo de bizarro qnd é tão real? A atuação deles é verdadeira, genuína, assombrosa... "crueldade crescendo, até permitir que a câmera fosse surpreendida pelo inesperado. À medida que esse inesperado impõe-se, ganha-se uma naturalidade que nos pega de surpresa". Uma analise legal: A terra é redonda como uma laranja. O filme não tem começo nem final. O menino começa sozinho na delegacia e termina sozinho nos trilhos do trem. Ciclos de violência que se repetem e geram cada vez mais violência. A primeira parte, ainda na cadeia, brincam de assaltos para na segunda parte levar essa brincadeira para a prática. Essa visão simples é fatalista de que as coisas se repetem sem expectativa de mudança orna bem com o pensamento limitado dos jovens.
