Please don't watch or support this film in any way. Genuinely upsetting to watch. Pacing was poor, plot was a trash fire, character development was bipolar and confusing, and there is no justice for a wrongfully accused and murdered Black Man. This movie almost supports corruption in law enforcement and doesn't even gratify itself with an ending that shows justice put forth. Nor revenge. I sat through the film hoping, PRAYING, that there would be some form of redemption for one of the primary characters. Instead I was left offended and disappointed. Not to mention an African American cop who lets the corruption occur in front of her. Her "redemption" is a poor attempt to save the character, but truly she is just as bad as the primary antagonist. I cannot stress how offensive it is. Nor how bad a plot it holds. If I could give it 0/5 stars, I would. Boring on top of offensive. The visuals and the cinematography look amazing, there is not really a lot of action in there, but it’s still entertaining. Overall, I give Rebel Ridge a B+ or a 8.5/10. See more Gabe M @RealityCrash Feb 3 Satisfying action, a simple setting, well written characters—Rebel Ridge has it all. I’ve watched this movie 4 different times. Most recently with a friend who is a self proclaimed movie critic. He loved it too. Aaron Pierre and Don Johnson portrayed very compelling roles and this movie established each character through their actions. The cast overall was kept small, so it was easy to follow the story. The law and conspiracy aspects are one of my favorite parts of this movie. It all leads to a satisfying climax that is alluded to throughout the film. The action scenes are very original and refreshing due to their lack of killing; still violent, but these scenes are well earned. A reason I can see people not liking this movie is its length and its pacing, it plays like a TV show at parts. Despite this nitpick, Jeremy Saulnier made one hell of a movie and I will watch again. It’s clear to me, the bad reviews are due to a lack of deep thinking, necessary to appreciate this movie. See more Read all reviews
